Diamond Legends Rules
The Draft | Setup | Season Play | The Playoffs | No Transaction Charges

A) The Schedule

There are three four-team divisions. Each team plays a 162-game season over a period of nine weeks, meaning that you will play 18 games in a week - three games each night, Monday through Saturday. You will play the other three teams in your division 30 times each. You will play the eight teams outside of your division nine times each.

B) Transactions
  1. There is no trading between teams. The only transactions you can make are:

    • Promotions and demotions involving the 30 players in your roster (five must always be in your minors)
    • Buying and releasing players (you must always have 30 players in your team). Please note that if you release a player from your minors, the player you buy will come into your minors. If you release a player from your majors, the player you buy will come into your majors.

  2. The deadline for these transactions is 11:59 p.m. Central Time the night before the next series.

    • For Monday's series, the deadline is 11:59 p.m. Central Time Sunday.

    • For Tuesday's series, the deadline is 11:59 p.m. Central Time Monday, and so on.

    • No games are played on Sundays.

  3. Player Signings and Releases.

    • Before Opening Day of your Diamond Legends season, you can sell back any player on your roster for 100 percent of his catalog value. Once the season starts, you can sell a player back for 80 percent of his catalog value.

    • You must always have 30 players in your roster.

    • You cannot exceed your own salary cap.

      • Each team has a slightly different salary cap depending on its draft position.

      • If you drafted second in the preseason draft, then you get $35,000 in fantasy funds. If you drafted third, you get $70,000. If you drafted 12th you get $385,000 extra.

      • So each team will have different caps starting at $50,000,000 but possibly as high as $51,435,000 because...

      • For each player that you list on your draft request that you do not get in your draft, you get an additional $35,000 per player not drafted. So if you were drafting 12th and you missed on all of your 30 players (which is almost impossible), then you would get an additional $1,435,000 to spend on your team.

      • A team that originally got $50 million never will be able to spend over $50 million. A team that started with $50,385,000 never will be able to spend more than $50,385,000.

      • As you cash in players at 80 percent, your salary cap decreases. If you cash in a $10 million player, you'll get $8 million for him. Your salary cap may go down from $50 million to $48 million.

  4. When you buy and release players, or when you promote and demote players from your minors, make sure:

    • Your pitcher starts in your majors always add up to 18.

    • Your catcher starts in your majors always add up to 18.

    • We strongly recommend you have three catchers in your majors.

    • We strongly recommend you have 10 or 11 pitchers in your majors.

  5. Injured players don't have to be sent to the minors, but you're better off with healthy players in your majors. If you bench or promote a player, they are required to stay in their new place for three games, meaning you can move them every series if you want.

  6. If you leave injured players in your batting lineups or pitching rotations, the computer manager will have to create its own lineups and rotations. Don't expect these lineups and rotations to be better than the ones you could create. The computer manager is not superhuman; it is subhuman.
C) The Final Week of the Season

No purchases or cash-ins are allowed during the final week (18 games) of the season. If you want to buy and sell players, do it by 11:59 p.m. Central Time the Friday before Week 9 begins.

Also, the five players in your minors will become active, giving you an expanded roster of 30 active players. However, if you make the playoffs, you must put five players back on the bench.
